Title:  Associate SID Engineer/Specialist

Job Purpose

Under supervision, performs a variety of assignments through the application of basic engineering theories, techniques, and practices. In development mode being trained in the utilization of relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry-standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables while gaining exposure to procedures and processes. Intermediate level position following defined processes and precedents to complete assigned tasks with increasing independence specific to the area of specialty. Supports the department activities on project execution. 

Main Scope/Responsibilities

  • Business Development Support:
    • Assists business development activities by maintaining an up to date personal profile and resume database. 
  • Business Operations:
    • Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences. 
    • Assists the Project lead for a smooth handover. 
    • Ensures work to be done in compliance with standards requirements and JESA internal processes. 
    • Ensures discipline technical work and activities with good quality and efficient productivity. 
  • Technical Competency :
    • Supports adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. 
    • Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates. 
    • Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. 
    • Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence. 
    • Supports the processes for checking, per reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
      • Associate SID Engineer
        • Preparation of safety studies and/or fire water preliminary calculation, specifications, and drawing.
      • Associate HVAC Engineer
        • Preparation of HAVC and smoke exhaust preliminary calculations, specifications, and drawings.
  • Project Execution: 
    • Working under close supervision; 
    • Knows the discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success. 
    • Implement innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.   
    • Assists the Project Lead to plan discipline quality audits, to monitor quality activities, to participate in squad checking depending on the size of the project, to recommend improvements, and to take action where required. 

Main Scope/Responsibilities (continued)

  • Project Deliverables: 
    • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares:
      • Associate SID Engineer  
        • Preparation of Preliminary Risks Analysis, Safety Distances Analysis, Plot Plan Review, Regulatory Analysis, and Preliminary Fire Water study (philosophy, calculation, specifications, and drawing) and Eyewash & Safety shower study based on JESA WI, Moroccan regulatory and International Standards with support from the Project Lead.
        • Checking of preliminary drawings prepared by Designer. 
      • Associate HVAC Engineer  
        • Preparation of HVAC Basis of Design, Smoke Exhaust Basic Design, HVAC preliminary philosophy, and Smoke Exhaust preliminary philosophy and preliminary calculations and specifications based on JESA WI, Moroccan regulatory, and International Standards with support from the Project Lead.
        • Checking of preliminary drawings prepared by Designer. 
    • Crafts recommendations and creates final documentation. 
    • Determines technical issues define alternate solutions and makes recommendations with Seniors Engineer's support. 
    • Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information with Seniors Engineer's support. 
  • Procurement Support: 
    • Incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment/material specifications, datasheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions with Senior Engineers' support and supervision. 
    • Participates in bid clarifications prepares bid evaluations with close support from the Project Lead.  
  • Site Support: 
    • Incorporates requirements from constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews into engineering/design with Senior Engineer's support and supervision. 
    • May work with site personnel to resolve issues from the office with close support from the Project Lead.

Education

  • Awarded a 4 or 5-year technical degree in science or engineering. Will be actively licensed with a local engineering governing body where required by law
  • Curricula:
    • Associate SID Eng.: Process / Safety / firefighting background.
    • Associate HVAC Eng.: HVAC background

  • 0 to 3 years

Specific Experience in the position

  • Should know the basics of development and installation of:
    • Associate SID Eng.: Safety and firefighting systems.
    • Associate HVAC Eng.: HVAC systems.
